STRUCTURED HYPNOTHERAPY PROCESS

Referral Information for Physicians

For medically stable patients who remain internally unsettled, dysregulated, or functionally stuck

Overview

Some patients remain unsettled despite appropriate medical evaluation and treatment. Although medically stable, they continue to experience internal distress, mental overload, sleep disruption, or difficulty with clarity and decision-making.

This page provides referral information for a structured, time-limited hypnotherapy process designed to support nervous system stabilization and internal steadiness in such patients.

This is a non-pharmacologic, adjunctive option, not a replacement for medical, psychological or psychiatric care.

When Referral May Be Appropriate

Referral may be appropriate for patients who are:

  • Medically stable following appropriate evaluation

  • Experiencing persistent internal distress or dysregulation

  • Reporting ongoing mental overload, agitation, or restlessness

  • Struggling with decision paralysis or functional overwhelm

  • Experiencing sleep disruption without clear medical cause

  • Not responding adequately to reassurance, time, or medication optimization

  • Not appropriate for escalation of psychiatric pharmacotherapy

  • Patients who express a sense of internal pressure, overwhelm, or inability to move forward despite medical stability.

The process is intended for patients who are functioning but unsettled, rather than acutely ill or in crisis.

What This Process Is

  • A six-session, structured hypnotherapy process

  • Focused on stabilization of the nervous system

  • Designed to restore internal steadiness and clarity

  • Time-limited, with a defined beginning and end

  • Conducted privately, one-to-one, in person or online

The emphasis is on stabilizing the internal state first, allowing clarity and functional capacity to return without forcing insight or prolonged emotional processing.

What This Process Is Not

  • Emergency mental health care

  • Open-ended psychotherapy

  • Ongoing talk therapy

  • A substitute for medical or psychiatric treatment

Patients requiring acute intervention, safety monitoring, or intensive psychiatric care should be referred elsewhere.

Clinical Rationale (Plain Language)

In some patients, persistent autonomic or stress-related dysregulation interferes with sleep, emotional regulation, and cognitive clarity, even when medical findings are stable.

This structured hypnotherapy process is designed to reduce internal noise, support autonomic settling, and allow the patient’s regulatory capacity to re-establish itself, without further pharmacologic escalation.

Duration and Structure

  • Duration: Six private sessions

  • Structure: Defined, time-limited process

  • Rationale: Provides sufficient continuity for stabilization without becoming open-ended

Expected Outcomes

The process aims to support:

  • Improved internal steadiness

  • Reduced mental and emotional overload

  • Improved clarity and decision-making capacity

  • Improved functional engagement

Outcomes vary by individual.

Optional: Process Orientation for Referring Physicians

Physicians who would like to better understand how this structured process works may request a one-time orientation session.

This session is offered solely to demonstrate the structure of the process and assess referral fit. It is not personal therapy, and it is not ongoing.

Participation is optional and intended to support informed referral decisions.Ā This information is provided for referral consideration only and does not constitute a prescription, order, or directive.
