STRUCTURED HYPNOTHERAPY PROCESS

Referral Information for Athletic Trainers

For clients who struggle to stay consistent with training despite motivation and effort

Overview

Some clients want to train, improve their health, and stay consistent, yet repeatedly fall out of rhythm. Despite good intentions and appropriate training guidance, progress stalls, engagement drops, and clients often stop and restart.

This page provides referral information for a structured, time-limited hypnotherapy process designed to support nervous system stabilization and internal steadiness in such clients.

This work is a non-medical, adjunctive option and is not a replacement for training, coaching, medical, or psychological care.

When Referral May Be Appropriate

Referral may be appropriate for clients who:

  • Struggle to maintain consistency with training

  • Start and stop programs repeatedly

  • Experience fluctuating energy or motivation

  • Feel tense, fatigued, or constantly “on edge”

  • Report difficulty settling into a sustainable routine

  • Want to train but cannot seem to stay engaged

Clients are often referred when difficulty sustaining consistency is not explained by training structure alone.

This process is intended for clients who are generally healthy and functional, not injured or in medical crisis.

What This Process Is

  • A six-session, structured hypnotherapy process

  • Focused on stabilization of the nervous system

  • Designed to support consistency, regulation, and follow-through

  • Time-limited, with a clear beginning and end

  • Conducted privately, one-to-one, in person or online

The emphasis is on helping the client’s internal state settle, so training and lifestyle changes can be sustained more naturally.

What This Process Is Not

This process is not:

  • Personal training or fitness coaching
  • Medical or psychological treatment
  • Open-ended therapy

Clients requiring acute intervention, safety monitoring, or intensive psychiatric care should be referred elsewhere.

Practical Rationale (Plain Language)

When the nervous system remains overloaded or unsettled, consistency becomes difficult. Energy fluctuates, motivation drops, and routines feel harder to maintain even when clients want to follow through.

This structured hypnotherapy process is designed to reduce internal noise, support regulation, and help the system settle, making it easier for clients to stay engaged with training and healthy routines.

Duration and Structure

  • Duration: Six private sessions

  • Structure: Defined, time-limited process

  • Rationale: Enough continuity to support stabilization without becoming open-ended

Expected Outcomes

The process aims to support:

  • Improved ability to stay consistent with training

  • Reduced internal tension and fatigue

  • Improved capacity to settle into routines

  • Improved follow-through with exercise and healthy habits

Outcomes vary by individual.
